Moving beyond the second-order election model?

چکیده

In this introduction to the sixth annual review of regional elections we identify three generations election studies that have applied second-order (SOE) model. First-generation literature finds authority, territorial cleavages, and (non-)simultaneity explain heterogeneity in SOE-effects because they affect ‘what is at stake’ a election. A ‘stake-based’ approach also underlies second-generation voters with strong identities who find government important are more likely make distinct party choices electoral arena. Third-generation research adopts multilevel system perspective considers impact political-institutional variables on extent horizontal vertical top-down bottom-up spill-over between national arenas. Four articles four reports contributions thereby reveal these scholarship remain highly relevant.

On the second order first zagreb index

Inspired by the chemical applications of higher-order connectivity index (or Randic index), we consider here the higher-order first Zagreb index of a molecular graph. In this paper, we study the linear regression analysis of the second order first Zagreb index with the entropy and acentric factor of an octane isomers. The linear model, based on the second order first Zag...

Second-digit Tests for Voters’ Election Strategies and Election Fraud∗

The second significant digits of precinct-level (or polling station-level) vote counts follow regular patterns when voters are acting strategically and when there are partisan imbalances of voters in districts (when there is a gerrymander). The digits often follow distinctive patterns when vote counts are affected by coercion. The patterns are illustrated by a simulation exercise that generates...

Moving beyond the ‘beads-on-a-string’ Model of Speech

The notion that a word is composed of a sequence of phone segments, sometimes referred to as ‘beads on a string’, has formed the basis of most speech recognition work for over 15 years. However, as more researchers tackle spontaneous speech recognition tasks, that view is being called into question. This paper raises problems with the phoneme as the basic subword unit in speech recognition, sug...

Computations by fly-automata beyond monadic second-order logic

The validity of a monadic-second order (MS) expressible property can be checked in linear time on graphs of bounded tree-width or clique-width given with appropriate decompositions. This result is proved by constructing from the MS sentence expressing the property and an integer that bounds the tree-width or clique-width of the input graph, a finite automaton intended to run bottom-up on the al...
